  • Yankees' Jose Caballero: Homers, steals Saturday

Caballero went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Caballero was one of two Yankees who recorded three hits in this win, as Ben Rice also had three knocks, and this three-hit performance pushed his hitting streak to seven games. That was not all, though, as Caballero also made his presence felt on the basepaths with his 10th stolen base of the campaign. During his ongoing seven-game hitting streak, Caballero has four multi-hit performances while hitting 10-for-28 (.357) with two homers, three RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base.

  • Yankees' Fernando Cruz: Second win of season

Cruz (2-0) earned the win over the Astros on Saturday after not allowing a run over two-thirds of an inning, walking one and striking out two.

Cruz recorded the final two outs of the sixth inning. Even though he walked Jose Altuve as soon as he entered the game, he bounced back by striking out Christian Walker and Yainer Diaz. Cruz had given up at least a run in his previous two relief appearances, so this was a nice bounce-back performance for the right-hander. Still, given his recent inconsistencies and the role he's filling in the bullpen right now, his fantasy upside should remain fairly low.

  • Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Allows two runs in no-decision

Weathers didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Astros after allowing two runs on six hits across 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Making his first start since returning from paternity leave earlier this week, Weathers picked things up where he left them off, as he had tossed 7.1 scoreless innings in his previous outing against the Royals on April 19. Weathers fell just two outs away from recording what would've been his third quality start of the season, but he's been pitching well of late. He's allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his last four starts, and this outing lowered his ERA to 3.21 across 33.2 innings. Weathers should make his next start next weekend at home against the Orioles.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Not in Saturday's lineup

Stanton (calf) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.

Tightness in Stanton's right calf caused him to make an early exit from Friday's contest, and the Yankees will give him a day off Saturday to recover. Amed Rosario will serve as New York's designated hitter and bat sixth.

  • Yankees' Angel Chivilli: Lands on injured list

The Yankees placed Chivilli on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right shoulder discomfort, retroactive to Thursday.

Chivilli has appeared in two games since joining the Yankees on April 15 but hasn't pitched since Sunday, and his shoulder will now prevent him from taking the mound again for New York until at least May 8. Ryan Weathers was activated from the paternity list in a corresponding move.

  • Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Returns from paternity leave

The Yankees reinstated Weathers from the paternity list Saturday.

After spending three days away from the team to welcome a new addition to his family, Weathers will return to start Saturday's game against the Astros. The 26-year-old southpaw threw 7.1 shutout innings against the Royals during his most recent start, though he'll face a more difficult task Saturday in keeping quiet an Astros lineup that currently boasts the fourth-best OPS in MLB (.784). Angel Chivilli (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Yankees' Ben Rice: Blasts ninth homer

Rice went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Astros.

Rice entered Friday's contest having gone 0-for-9 with seven strikeouts over his previous three games, but he got back into the homer column Friday for his ninth long ball of the year. The 27-year-old has been one of the most productive players in baseball to begin 2026 with a .316/.450/.747 slash line, 20 RBI and 24 runs through 25 games.

  • Yankees' Will Warren: Picks up third win

Warren (3-0) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings in a 12-4 victory over the Astros. He struck out six.

The right-hander surrendered single tallies in the fourth and sixth frames but otherwise kept Houston off the board to produce his second consecutive quality start and victory. Warren has given up two earned runs or fewer in each of his six outings this season, resulting in a 2.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB through 31.1 innings.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Homers in second straight game

Chisholm went 3-for-4 with a walk, a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 12-4 victory over Houston.

After producing his first homer of the season Thursday in Boston, Chisholm went deep again Friday while also doubling his RBI total for the campaign. The second baseman was a key contributor throughout Friday's contest, delivering a two-run single in the first inning, a solo homer in the fourth and another RBI single in the seventh. Chisholm's .637 OPS for the year still needs a lot of work, but it appears he's finally busted out of his season-opening slump.

  • Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Impressive in first rehab start

Rodon (elbow) tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in a rehab outing with High-A Hudson Valley on Friday, allowing one hit and issuing one walk while striking out four batters.

Rodon logged game action for the first time since he underwent surgery last October to remove a bone spur from his left elbow. The southpaw threw 65 pitches (43 strikes), and the only hit he allowed was a single. Rodon appears to be past the hamstring issue that delayed the start of his rehab stint, so his path to joining the Yankees' rotation seems to now be simply a matter of building up. The expectation is that he'll make two more rehab starts before being activated off the IL.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Exits with trainer

Stanton was removed from Friday's game against the Astros with right lower-leg tightness, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Stanton didn't seem to be very comfortable running from second base to third on J.C. Escarra's sixth-inning single, so the Yankees' training staff made the call to take the former out of the contest. If the veteran slugger ends up needing to sit down for another game or two, Randal Grichuk could be in line for extra starts in the outfield or at DH.

  • Yankees' Austin Wells: Idle Friday

Wells isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.

Wells will take a seat on the bench to begin Friday's contest after going just 1-for-12 with two walks and an RBI over his last four games. J.C. Escarra will pick up a start behind the dish as a result and bat seventh.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Gets off schneid with first homer

Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a 4-2 win against Boston on Thursday.

Chisholm produced the only run against Red Sox starter Payton Tolle with a solo blast to right field in the fifth inning. That was Chisholm's first long ball of the campaign after a 23-game homerless drought. The veteran infielder also logged his second multi-hit effort in the past three days after not collecting more than one hit in any of his first 21 contests. Chisholm is still slashing a meager .188/.274/.282, but he's showing signs of busting out of what has been a rough opening month of the season.

  • Yankees' David Bednar: Pitches clean inning for save

Bednar earned a save against the Red Sox on Thursday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Bednar was called upon to protect a 4-2 lead after Cam Schlittler tossed eight innings for New York. Bednar breezed through his frame, setting down the side in order on 11 pitches (eight strikes). The veteran closer was shaky at times early in the campaign and had a 5.40 ERA through his first seven outings, but he's since logged four consecutive scoreless appearances, during which he's given up just one hit and registered a 5:1 K:BB over four frames. Bednar is tied for second in MLB with seven saves on the campaign.

  • Yankees' Cam Schlittler: Goes eight innings in third victory

Schlittler (3-1) earned the win over Boston on Thursday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out five batters over eight innings.

Schlittler gave up an unearned run in the second inning and a solo homer in the fifth, but that was all the damage Boston managed against him. The right-hander completed eight frames for the first time in his big-league career, doing so on an efficient 96 pitches (69 strikes). In addition to picking up his third win, Schlittler notched his second straight quality start and third overall this season. He's yet to give up more than three runs in any of his six starts and has posted a superb 1.77 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 41:4 K:BB over 35.2 innings.
