Eason posted 20 points (8-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds and three assists over 24 minutes during Sunday's 132-101 victory over Memphis.
Eason ceded significant time to Jabari Smith over the course of the season, but Eason got the green light for production at the four with the first unit sidelined during the regular-season finale. An eight-game stretch of single-digit scoring totals in March brought an end to his stint with the first unit, but the demotion didn't affect his bottom line. He still logged significant minutes and remained a decent source of rebounding for the squad.

Eason will join the first unit Tuesday for his first start since March 18. Head coach Ime Udoka said during his pregame presser that the change from Reed Sheppard to Eason is a matchup-based decision, per Varun Shankar of the Houston Chronicle, and Sheppard is expected to be back in the starting five for the second half of Houston's back-to-back Wednesday against Milwaukee. Eason continues to work through one of the worst shooting slumps in recent memory. In eight games over the past two weeks, he has shot a disastrous 29.7 percent from the field, during which time he has been outside the top 300 in standard leagues. Eason shot the ball poorly yet again, although the fact that he played 34 minutes on the second night of a back-to-back has to be the real talking point. Managers should now feel comfortable deploying him on a nightly basis, assuming he suffers no setbacks moving forward. The hope is that his production can increase, having averaged just 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.5 three-pointers in six games over the past two weeks.
